Glaciers are melting, and at an ever-faster pace. Some disappeared during the heatwave summer of 2026. The Bella Tola Glacier in the Val d'Anniviers is one of them. Glacier Loss Day was already reached on 29 June 2026. This is the day on which the winter snow cover has melted away. Researchers at ETH Zurich have observed, measured and documented glacier loss in Switzerland over several decades. The exhibition looks back on this long history. It shows how the high-alpine landscape has changed and will continue to change. It recalls the images of last summer and asks about the future.
An exhibition by ETH Zurich, in collaboration with the ALPS Swiss Alpine Museum
