Zentrum Paul Klee: 4,000 masterpieces

Some 10,000 works by Paul Klee (1879–1940) survive today. 4,000 of them are in the Zentrum Paul Klee in Berne: paintings, watercolours, puppets and drawings.

Together with the extensive archives, this makes the ZPK a unique centre of expertise and research for this classic among modern artists.

All the activities focus on Klee’s work and thought: exhibitions, research and teaching. The ZPK’s mission is to be a cultural centre which prolongs Paul Klee’s many-faceted work into the contemporary world. Theatre performances, concerts, literary readings and the summer academy broaden the approach. Creaviva, the children’s museum, takes up the artist’s teaching ideas.

Renzo Piano’s architecture provides

generous spaces and well lit areas that

invite visitors to linger. At the ZPK, this

ultra-modern architecture is of course combined with the very latest media.
