The platform for Alpine themes

The Swiss Alpine Museum takes up current topics and raises issues related to the present day. Large-scale special exhibitions, experimental cabinet exhibitions and accompanying events present mountains and people from ever new perspectives. Culture, art, science and society highlight different aspects of the mountains and the Alps, and facilitate various new approaches.
Beautiful  mountains are not just beautiful; they are also incredibly popular. For this reason the Swiss Alpine Museum has created an exhibition that places the museum’s painting collection at its core :
« Beautiful Mountains.  A point of View. » It gets to the heart of our yearning for the montains, and exemines this with a view to present-day circumstances. What remains of the beauty when a cheesemaker on a remote Alp or al lorry driver transiting the Alps talk about their view of the mountains ?
