Bern University of the Arts BUA: A University of the Arts and a Cultural Venue

Sound, space, body, language and image: the Bern University of the Arts works with all these different media. In the departments of Design and Fine Arts, Conservation and Restoration, Music, Opera/Theatre and Literature the BUA is a site for teaching, research, work and further education. The BUA sees itself as part of an innovative art, design and research landscape, working across disciplinary boundaries – an orientation the Y Institute for Transdisciplinarity stands for.

The BUA is a place of artistic production and experimentation. The public can and should be part of this. With over 400 public events per year, the BUA is one of the main cultural venues in the area of Bern. It offers insights into its activities in concerts, readings, performances and exhibitions: both on BUA sites and in external venues.
