The Bear Pit is the city’s most popular tourist attraction. With its Info-Center and beautiful view of the Old City, it is the perfect starting point for a visit to Bern. Legend has it that when Bern was founded on the Aare peninsula in the 12th century, it was named after the first animal killed there: a bear. The Bern Show, a media extravaganza with multivision and animated model of the city, is an exciting introduction to Bern.

- All information concerning tourism is available with Bern Tourismus. And it is possible to book hotelrooms.

Bern Tourismus runs the two Tourist Centers at the Central Railway Station and the Old Tram Depot by the Bear Pit

(s. i Bärengraben/Bern Show). Both are open all year round.
